Lake Lanier Army Corp of Engineers- Chris Lovelady

The Corp of Engineers is the governing body on Lake Lanier who owns much of the shoreline lake owners are paying to improve.  You will be required to obtain a permit to have a contractor install RipRap.  But know that the Corp does not really enforce standards and will consider this a civil matter to be resolved in court between the lake owner and contractor if problems arise.  They do not permit, certify, or control contractors ability to perform work on the lake.  They have guidelines and requirements, but that seems to be as far as it goes.  You and I could start a business tomorrow installing RipRap with a barge and a boat.  I didn't know this when I went to them for help here.
